Today, the Bears signed cornerback Nathan Vasher to a 5 year contract extension that will keep him with the Bears through 2012. Further details of the deal are not yet available. He was originally signed through the 2007 season, which would have made him a free agent after this year.
Last year, Vasher, in a pro-bowl season, had 3 interceptions, with 45 tackles, 33 of which were solo and 12 assisted.
Vasher, about the extension, said,"It feels good. It's been a great relief. I know a lot of people have contract issues about this time. It's one less thing I have to worry about."
This is a great move by the Bears. Vasher is a big part of their great defense, and this also gets rid of the distraction of trying to get an extension done mid-season.
